"Tiptoe Through the Tulips" with ARF

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. (ARF) announces its 27th Annual Garden Tour “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” will be held on Saturday, June 15 from 10am-4pm, rain or shine. One of the longest running garden tours on Long Island, the ARF Garden Tour will feature six magnificent gardens in historic East Hampton and environs.

The private gardens included on the tour are: the garden of Barrie Berg and Antonio Munoz, the garden of Dwyer and Michael Derrig, the garden of Alexandra Munroe and Robert Rosenkranz, “Craigmoor” owned by Craig James Socia, the garden of Peter Wilson and Scott Sanders and the garden of Jan and Randy Slifka.  Free refreshments will be served at the Derrig garden.

It’s always interesting to visit the garden of a professional landscape designer and two of the six gardens featured this year, are the personal gardens of well-respected garden designers.  Michael Derrig the owner of Landscape Details is opening up his simple, modern and superbly detailed garden. Derrig shows what careful selection of materials and attention to details can achieve in a smaller scale garden.  The garden of Craig James Socia who is the head of Craig James Socia Garden Design is a showcase for his very distinctive style. Socia’s style is again revealed at the garden of Peter Wilson and Scott Sanders a magnificent Asian-fusion landscape just off the ocean.   One can visit the fabulous garden of Alexandra Munroe and Robert Rosendranz again and again.  This public spirited couple has opened up their sumptuous oceanfront garden many times, and still the crowds beg for more.    In the heart of the Village, two gardens exemplify the dignity of old East Hampton.  A profusion of color greets the visitor at the Slifka garden and great design by the local firm the Bayberry is in evidence at the Berg & Munoz garden.

The 27th Annual Garden Tour is self-guided and ticket holders can view the gardens in any order. A cocktail reception immediately follows at the iconic home of Mary Jane and Charles Brock in the village of East Hampton. This year’s event is chaired by Barbara Slifka and Mark Fichandler

Tickets for the tour are $75 each and can be purchased by calling 631-537-0400 x216, online at www.arfhamptons.org, the ARF Adoption Center in Wainscott, the ARF Thrift Shop in Sagaponack and the following garden centers:  Lynch’s Garden Center and Mecox Gardens in Southampton, East Hampton Gardens, The Bayberry in Amagansett, the Sag Harbor Florist and Marders in Bridgehampton.  Tickets for the tour and cocktail reception are $175 and must be purchased in advance by phone, online or at ARF.
