Rogers Memorial Library Receives $45,000 New York State Construction Grant

The library is pleased to announce we have received a $45,713 grant from the Public Library Construction Grant Program sponsored by the NYS Education Department and NYS Library.

The funds will go towards offsetting the cost of the storage barn recently constructed on the northeast corner of the library’s property, just beyond the parking lot. The basis for this grant program is to provide matching funds for public library construction projects that increase or improve access to library facilities.

In our case, there were services we could not offer due to lack of storage for necessary equipment, there were
areas of the library intended for public use being used to store equipment and some storage was not in compliance with building codes. We also wanted to be able to purchase bulk quantities of custodial supplies and save a few dollars but there was no room for that!

So, plans for a storage barn were begun and the grant application was submitted in late summer. The storage barn has been completed and the staff are enthusiastically and carefully selecting the best use of the new space.

We are grateful to our local legislators, and Senator Ken LaValle for their support of the State Construction Grant Project.

The library Board of Trustees are committed to fiscal responsibility and are grateful for these funds.
