Art, Crafts, Fashion, Music, & Culture: just the beginning...

AFI's World Peace Initiative kicked off yesterday at Southampton United Methodist church. The evening included an art exhibition, a masquerade ball, and a just taste of the eclectic entertainment this weekend's event has in store.

Festivities will continue today Saturday, November 2, with short film presentations at Guild Hall, a guest appearance by comedian Doug E. Doug, and a private screening of Center Piece Film "Chasing Shakespeare," by Ojibwe-Irish filmmaker James Bird VII, featuring Danny Glover. The evening will end with an awards ceremony followed by a full lineup of music, fashion, and cultural entertainment. Short films will continue on Sunday, November 3, culminating with a "We Are the World'  celebration of cultural diversity.
Tickets, $15 per short film block and $30 ($50 with reception) for "Chasing Shakespeare," are sold at Guild Hall. Proceeds benefit the initiative and other local charities.
