Thanks to the Firefighters Who Battled Tuesday's Blaze

Your guide to what's happening in your community.

Good morning, Southampton. Have you dried out yet? What a soggy Tuesday that was.

— You'll be glad to know that Wednesday is supposed to bring lots of sunshine with a high of 80F.

— Our hats off to the firefighters from across the South Fork who spent many hours on Tuesday fighting a stubborn fire in Water Mill. We'll be following up on that fire — believed to have started with a lightning strike during the thunderstorm — later on Wednesday. Many of them were at the fire for six hours. Thank you for your service.

Lightning was also to blame for a problem the Southampton Town police had on Tuesday after the communications tower in Hamptons Bays was struck.

— That thunderstorm dumped a ton of rain on us. One video, sent to us by Clifford Dayton, of Center Moriches, showed how bad the flooding was on Scuttlehole Road in Bridgehampton. Do you have photos or video from the storm? Email them to Taylor.Vecsey@patch.com.

— Rosh Hashanah begins on Wednesday night at sundown. Please check out our services schedule. L'Shana Tova!

— Did you miss the Hampton Classic Horse Show last week? Catch up with a gallery of photos, uploaded through the Classic's blog on Patch. Don't worry, next summer will be here before you know it.
