Your guide to what's happening in the community.
Good morning, Southampton.
— Oscar Mahoney, a Southampton High School senior, is being honored as an academically outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school student by the National Hispanic Recognition Program. Congrats, Oscar!
— This morning, I'm headed to the groundbreaking ceremony at the Kraus Family Health Center of the Hamptons at Southampton Hospital, which will replace the county-operated health centers in Southampton and East Hampton. A family practice, women’s health services and dental services will all be provided at the new state-of-the-art facility at the Southampton Hospital annex. Check back later for more details.
— SYS is offering a defensive driving course next week. The first session of the Accident Prevention workshop, sponsored by SYS and FOP Lodge 57, is on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. You'll receive a 10 percent discount on auto insurance or, if needed, four points off your driving record. Price: $45. Call ahead to register.
— Panera Bread is observing Breast Cancer Awareness month with Pink Ribbon bagels. Buy yours at Panera Bread in the Bridgehampton Commons this month and a portion of the proceeds will benefit three breast cancer charities on Long Island.
— Doing something in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month? Be sure to tell us so we can help spread the word.
— Last week we ran a story from our friend Nadine Cheung at AOL about making a perfect Mason jar salad. Patch readers ate it up. We've put together a great Pinterest board of other ideas. Share your favorite Mason jar links and recipes below or via Twitter at #patchcooks.
