— Weather alert: Long Island could see a soggy Tuesday and Wednesday next week as the remnants from Tropical Storm Karen barrel up the East Coast. According to a Weather.com report, once Karen makes landfall in the Gulf Coast the moisture could be forced east by a cold front guiding Winter Storm Atlas to the west, soaking the area.
— In recognition of National Fire Prevention Week, REVCO Lighting + Electrical Supply will donate $1 to local fire departments for every smoke detector sold during the month of October. Southampton Fire Department is one of the beneficiaries.
— In other business news, Fresh in Bridgehampton is hosting “family night” dinner every Sunday from 4 p.m. to close. The dinner feeds two to four adults or two adults and two to three children. It includes a large house salad with mesclun greens and balsamic vinaigrette to start, a choice of one whole pan roasted Raleigh Farms organic chicken with fresh rosemary and pan gravy or one pound of Merlot barbeque braised all natural boneless beef short ribs with Pinot Noir sauce and three large sides of honey glazed local organic carrots, local organic string beans sautéed with garlic, shallots and fennel and roasted garlic whipped potatoes. The cost is $59, plus tax and gratuity.
