The H.M.S. Bounty before she went down
Even Keel April 2, 2013 at 12:24 am
Thank you, Paul, for that link to some incredible details of the HMS Bounty's journey! Who hadn'tRead More gazed in wanderlust at her storied hull while she was at dock in Port Jefferson or Greenport! The real life tragedy is on par with her original inception...to portray a glimpse of her namesake's seafaring mutinous past. She and her storied captain were lost to the almighty Atlantic but will live on in lore. Healing prayers to all whose lives were lost, torn, wrought, enriched, enlightened and inspired by the dream.

The navy has an expression for the Captians behavior ( That he did hazard his ship and crew) A courtRead More martial offence. A rotten ship, A hurricane How about a salute to the BRAVE men and women of the US Coast Guard and there heroic efforts to make this a far less tradgedy then it could have been. They are the real heros here, not the idiots that sent this ship to sea.

Paul...EXCELLENT article!...Thanx for the link..... I was never aboard the ship, although I didRead More spend some time admiring it when it was docked in Port Jeff, and love the water.....I followed most articles about it's sinking, and for some unknown reason, it is absolutely haunting to me....

Fun with Dick & Jane was the motto of the Dory bar keeps. Jane was from/lived in San Fran andRead More passed a few years before Dick. Best I can remember she had Half the place. Frankly though, #19 is a little lower on the list than I would have guessed. The Dory was the Island place to be. By the way, did you pick up any napkins off of the floor?
T.J. Clemente August 6, 2012 at 02:57 am
Sorry I missed the Jane factor, the folks who told me the story just didn't go there. She soundsRead More like an extraordinary woman on many levels as the east end seems to produce and house. Please do tell a few Jane stories Mr.Fredro and Mr. Foster, please I am interested! Post them here.

Lying is a form of manipulation. Way too many television shows feature narcissistic liars, and theyRead More never seem to be punished for this behavior. In many instances all this manipulation is rewarded in the end. Bring back the television code of ethics in which crime wasn't supposed to pay.

well T.J. we have a Liar in the white house - a leader is supposed to be a role model, no?

Nice article TJ. I have been lucky enough over the years to be blessed to have played on thatRead More beautiful course. Everytime I play that course it kicks my ass but after I finish I can't wait to get back there. I feel a special connection with that great course and I am not sure why. Perhaps it has something to do with my sister marrying into the Tureski family. What ever it is I feel blessed everytime I stand on that first hole saying to myself lord let me hit the fairway today.

T.J. I like your article. I read it this weekend while I was photographing the 44th Walker Cup, andRead More I thought about my Great Great Uncle Mike Tureski. Thank you for writing the article. It helped me learn more about the impact of my family on National Golf Links of America. Michael Tureski

Interesting story albeit marred by some editorial lapses, the most egregious being, "In factRead More he was a competent architect who donated the designs that were used to originally build along with the ."[?]

Interesting article, but it may have been betrayed by spell check. Edward gave the throne to hisRead More brother George, not the thrown (unless he managed to pick him up and throw him somewhere).

as my mother told me who read up on them; their relationship was doomed from the start - neither ofRead More them were sober - neither of them were humble - neither of them had a spiritual foundation... a recipe certain for failure. Like most relationships.

1-drugs. 2- too many illegals not enough work. town officials welcome the million illegals but whenRead More work runs out = crime. I have noticed the state police busy. My opinion, state police are more present then SHPD. I also think something is up w/SHPD. Maybe investigation?

I wonder why she didn't fit in the current landscape? She certainly had the freedom to report, failRead More to report, or slant stories to fit her personal opinions, which I've seen to be at the heart of modern journalism within the past several decades...
They did it…..

There was a democratic majority in 2001. Steve Kenny, Carolyn Zenk and Dennis Suskind.

Anna Throne Holst is NOT a democrat. She is a pro-development, right-leaning, card carrying memberRead More of the IndepenDENCE party which is nothing less than the bastard child of the Republican Party.
George Lynch September 23, 2013 at 12:01 pm
Time for the cozy-comfy-chummy Republican rule in Southampton to end. There are 3 Dem/IndyRead More candidates running: Ms. Throne-Holst, & Messrs. Zappone & Bender. If just 2 of them win, they'll make a Town Bd. majority w/Bridget Fleming, & then we'll see even more progress on taking good care of our money and our environment.

Well George, I will be posting a nice story of the building of the DuPont's home on Gin Lane, butRead More next, perhaps tomorrow afternoon will be a short read on the youngest first lady Julia Gardiner Tyler. You can still see the old red barn-like airplane hanger out in the fields to the west of HaygroundRead More Road. I always heard that it was Howard Hughes' hanger, that he'd built it for his own plane.

Sadly I think the ship can be a metaphor for the country; at one time beautiful and the best but nowRead More a rusted and worn out wreck that may soon face the breakers. It is profoundly sad, I could just see a bit of the United States when I visited the Philly area last year and even from a distance you could get a hint of her size and majesty. Keep writing TJ, I enjoy your blog and the many different topics you cover.
