The South Fork will share its state assemblyman with Southold and Shelter Island towns starting in 2012 if a redistricting plan unveiled Thursday based on the 2010 Census is adopted.

Pavilion Considered for Parrish Grounds
To bring more summer activities downtown, the Southampton Village Board is considering a seasonal pavilion for the grounds of the Parrish Art Museum building, expanding the options the village will have for the facility once the Parrish vacates it later this year and moves to Water Mill.

Critics Poke Holes in Supermarket Legislation
While legislation currently under the Southampton Village Board’s consideration would only create the legal means for a supermarket to be built in the village’s highway business zone, critics who blasted the proposal at a public hearing Tuesday see the zoning amendment as de facto approval of The Fresh Market putting a store on Hampton Road.

Analysis: Number of Real Estate Sales Rise in Hamptons
Real estate sale closings in the Hamptons during the fourth quarter of 2011 increased compared to the fourth quarter of 2010, according to Brown Harris Stevens Fourth Quarter of 2011 East End of Long Island Single-Family Home Market Report, which looks at only the last three months of the year.

Sag Harbor School Board Hears Drug Dog Pitch
Sag Harbor School District Superintendent John Gratto's proposal to start using Suffolk County Police Department K-9 Unit dogs to sniff out drugs at Pierson High School — and deter students from bringing illegal substances into school in the first place — was officially discussed at a Sag Harbor School Board meeting Monday and board members appear to favor the idea, The Southampton Press reports.

Beauty Guru Charla Krupp Dies of Breast Cancer
New York Times best-selling author Charla Krupp, a resident of New York City and Sagaponack, died Monday of breast cancer, The Chicago Tribune reports. Krupp, 58, grew up in Wilmette, Ill. She spoke to Patch in Illinois in June, in advance of her 40-year New Trier West High School reunion.
