Town Police: Criminal Obstruction of Breathing

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

reports for the week of September 6 through September 12:

Christopher Mcerlean, 28, of Sag Harbor was arrested Friday at 9 a.m. on Snake Hollow Road in Bridgehampton and charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and resisting arrest and criminal obstruction of breath or breathing, both misdemeanors.

Larceny

A 20-year-old woman from Katonah, New York told Town Police that around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, September 4, she left her bag at Axe Lounge on North Sea Road in Southampton. She picked the bag up Monday, September 5, but her credit cards were missing, according to a police report. She told police her American Express card had been used at stores in the Smithtown Mall and a gas station. Police are investigating.

DWI

Benito Rojas, 22, of Hampton Bays was arrested Saturday at 8:09 p.m. at the corner of Longview and Peconic roads in Southampton and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and open container, a violation. Police said Rojas was stopped for driving 15 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone when they discovered he was intoxicated.

Carlos Perez-Avalos, 26, of Sag Harbor was arrested Tuesday, September 6 at 9:56 p.m. at the corner of Noyac and Hampton roads in North Sea and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Perez-Avalos drove into trees, severely damaging his car. He was transported to Southampton Hospital by the Southampton Volunteer Ambulance, according to police.

Harassment

The 57-year-old owner of Pierre’s in Bridgehampton told police that a former employee came into the restaurant Friday evening and told him to stop telling people he stole from the establishment or else he will kill him. Police called the intruder, who lives in Brick Kiln Road, and told him he can no longer contact the owner.
