Town Police Log: Man Hit Ex-Landlord with Camera

Larceny, Criminal Mischief
A 46-year-old Southampton man was arrested Friday at 12:38 a.m. and charged with grand larceny after he hit his ex-landlord with a camera, according to town police.

John Olstromj was returning to his previous residence on Lumber Lane in Bridgehampton to get his things and move them to his new place when he saw his landlord videotaping him with a Sony A55 camera and an N50 zoom lens, according to police. Police said Olstromj took the camera and hit his former landlord, who is over 70 years old and is in a wheelchair.
Police charged Olstromj with fourth-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal mischief, both felonies.

There have been on-going disputes at the Lumber Lane residence, according to police.
First Degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation
Jamaal James, 26, of Bohemia was arrested last Oct. 2 at 8:23 a.m. on the corner of Sag Harbor Turnpike and Narrow Lane in Bridgehampton and charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony. Police said James was stopped for speeding when they discovered his licensed had been suspended numerous times.
Larceny
A 36-year-old man from Southampton told town police that sometime on Oct. 2 between 6 and 8:30 p.m. someone went into his house on Hills Station Road in Southampton and stole his laptop and $5,000 cash. The man said that he left the front door to his home unlocked, according to an incident report. The man added that his roommate’s dresser drawers were rummaged through but no items were taken, police said.
A 42-year-old man from Medford told police that on Saturday between 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., someone went into his unlocked Nissan Murano, parked near the corner of North Magee Road and Millstone-Brook Road in Southampton, and stole his wallet. The man was hunting in the woods near the intersection when the incident occurred, according to police. The wallet contained a New York State pistol permit, two credit cards, a debit card and $200 cash.
A 29-year-old clerk at the Hess Gas Station on Hills Station Road in Southampton told police that on Oct. 2 at around 5:50 p.m. a man came into the convenience store and stole candy. The theft was captured by Hess’ security cameras, according to police. The clerk saw the man leave the convenience store in a black car.
