Plans for Former Parrish Building to Be Presented Tuesday

Southampton Village invites the public to check out the ideas for 25 Jobs Lane, on March 26.

Southampton Village officials are encouraging residents to come out Tuesday at 5 p.m. to 25 Jobs Lane — the former site of The Parrish Art Museum — to see the conceptual designs for the renovation and restoration of the century-old building.

The village-owned building, which was vacated last year when The Parrish moved to a new facility in Water Mill, will next take on the identity of the Southampton Center for the Arts, a new nonprofit aimed at stimulating cultural activity in the village and attracting locals and tourists to downtown.

Boston-based architectural firm Machado & Silvetti Associates, which was selected by the village in July 2012, will present the plans it has been working on for months.

Additional plans for 25 Jobs Lane include a seasonal pavilion on the grounds, for outdoor events such as benefits, concerts and plays. The plan is dependent on donations.

The presentation is taking place during the normal time that the Village Board meets for its monthly work session, but rather than hold the meeting at Village Hall, it was decided to convene at 25 Jobs Lane so the public can see, in person, the changes that are planned at that address.
