Saturday afternoon visitors on Main Street saw store employees applying boards outside the windows of , , and . Other stores like Tenet applied boards to the inner frame of windows while stores like stuck tape to the inside of their store windows.
Michael Kors and Hildreth's employees left messages to the visitors left wandering the nearly empty streets of the village. "Go away, Irene! Be safe everyone," the boards outside Michael Kors said. The boards at Hildreth's, America's oldest department store, pleaded, "Don't Be Mean Irene."
