After a customer paid for his groceries then forgot his wallet at the checkout counter, a cashier at the in Bridgehampton decided to help herself to it, according to Southampton Town police.
Det. Sgt. Lisa Costa said that 43-year-old Christine Lenowicz turned herself in at in Hampton Bays on Friday and was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony.
The incident occurred on May 14, Costa said. The wallet contained about $200 cash, credit cards and personal information.

Costa said detectives connected Lenowicz to the theft using store video surveillance footage.
