Channing Daughters Now Shipping to New Jersey

Channing Daughters, a winery and vineyard in Bridgehampton, just received word that it can begin shipping to New Jersey — a boon for Channing Daughters' business and a blessing for New Jersey residents.

The winery first reported the news on its Facebook page Friday morning.

"If you have been waiting to have wine sent to you or join the wine club, now is the time!" the Facebook update reads, in part.

Channing Daughters sells its product online by the bottle, and fans can also subscribe to the wine club to receive automatic shipments — if their home state allows it.

The wine club ships two different bottles of its newest releases to its members six times a year, at a 10 percent discount. New Jersey residents were unable to join up until recently, because the state did not permit out-of-state wineries to ship there.

According to the New Jersey Treasury Department, on Jan. 17, 2012, Gov. Chris Christie signed into law a bill to allow out-of-state wineries to sell and ship wine directly to New Jersey residents. Out-of-state permit applications began being accepted on May 1, 2012. The licenses are issued by the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The licensed wineries must collect sales tax and remit it to the state.
